Run for Ry 5k 2011

2011 Run for Ry 5k Overall Finish List March 26, 2011
The 1st Annual Running for Ry turned out to be a very successful 5K run/walk fundraising event for youngster Rylan Newman. The temperature hovered around the freezing point with cold, gusty wind and cloudy skies. Nevertheless, 131 participants and several volunteers braved the weather. Four year old, Rylan, who is battling leukemia, led the pack at the start with mom, Sharon, pushing him in his covered running buggy. Matt Pulle, had a strong first place finish with a time of 17:31. Rylan’s big brother, Bren Bremer, finished fifth overall, with an impressive time of 21:57. Cathy Jackson, a teacher at Rylan’s preschool, took first overall for the women – YaY! for teachers – several turned out to show their support for Rylan. :-) Many thanks to all the volunteers. Lindsay Morris, poured her heart into this race and spent many hours getting everything organized. CTC veterans Bill Stolz, Nancy Rezabek, Dick Hessler, Tom and Andrea Allen kept the morning running smoothly despite the shaky hands and dropping temps. Many friends and family to the Newman family helped with registration, direct racers along the course and man the water station (a very chilly job!).
