Mustang Stampede 5K 2012

2012 Mustang Stampede 5K Overall Finish List April 28, 2012 Blue Ridge PTA/CTC
It was a beautiful morning for the Mustangs 5k on April 28th. 180 runners finished the race which set a new participation record for the event. Many of these runners were spurred on by a competition for a trophy presented to the Columbia public school with the most student finishers. Parkade edged out Blue Ridge by a 35-30 margin to claim the trophy. Guest celebrity John Anderson started the race. John is an ESPN anchor and host of ABC TV's Wipe Out. John has given generous donations to the Blue Ridge, Parkade, and Russell Blvd. running clubs as well as to the district's Buddy Pack food bank program. The first boy and first girl finishers posted impressive times with Landon Petri, age 8, running a 22:53 and Nadria Wright, age 10, running a 25:17. Blue Ridge teacher Nancy Coonrod won the overall female medal in a time of 23:48. She was very close to breaking the course record of 23:41. Andy Emerson won the overall male medal in a time of 18:38. Both Nancy and Andy received 100 points in the Columbia Track Club's serial competition for their efforts.
