LOU FRITZ, A Junior High teacher from Verdon, Nebraska, ran 25 consecutive Heart of America Marathons, from 1965 to 1989. 22 of 25
times he was under 3:00, and 13 times he was in the 2:40's with a PB of 2:41:20. His slowest times were 3:01:14 in the 1970 heat bath and 3:01:03 in '78 when he had an injured thigh. Fritz first appeared in 1965, at age 22, and had a 3:00:37 in that initial performance.
His average time over 25 marathons was 2:50:39. He finished second overall twice, won four age 40+ titles and finished second three other times in that age group.
